Grammys 2021: Die Nominierungen und das Drama

Die Grammy-Nominierungen stehen fest. Wir haben die Liste der Nominierungen für euch zusammengefasst – und die Beschwerden, die sie ausgelöst haben.

Die Grammys haben ihre Nominierungen für das Jahr 2021 angekündigt! Wer alles eine Chance hat, einen der prestigereichen Preise mit nach Hause zu nehmen, könnt ihr unten auf unserer Seite nachlesen. Aber das ist noch nicht alles, die Nominierungen der 2021er Ausgabe der Grammys haben auch einiges an Kontroversen ausgelöst: Denn wer die Liste unten aufmerksam gelesen hat, dem fällt vielleicht schon auf, dass ein Name, der 2020 in aller Munde war, fehlt.

Grammys 2021: Keine Nominierung für The Weeknd und Bob Dylan

The Weeknd hat trotz seines Erfolgsalbums „After Hours“ und Multiplatin-Single wie „Blinding Lights“ keine Nominierung abbekommen. Abyel Tesfaye, wie The Weeknd mit bürgerlichem Namen heißt, gab daraufhin ein kurzes, aber bündiges Statement auf Twitter ab. „Die Grammys sind immer noch korrupt“, heißt es in dem Tweet. „Ihr seid mir, meinen Fans und der Musikindustrie Transparenz schuldig.“

Seine Fans sehen das ähnlich: The Weeknd konnte mit seinem Tweet bereits über 800 000 Likes einfahren. Innerhalb kürzester Zeit gab es auch schon eine Reaktion seitens der Grammys: In einem Interview mit Variety gab der Präsident der Recording Academy Harvey Mason ein umfassendes Statement ab.

„Wir verstehen, dass The Weeknd enttäuscht darüber ist, nicht nominiert worden zu sein. Ich war überrascht, und kann seine Gefühle nachvollziehen. Seine Musik dieses Jahr war herausragend, und sein Beitrag zur Musikwelt und darüber hinaus, haben Bewunderung verdient. Wir waren hoch erfreut, als wir herausgefunden haben, dass er beim kommenden Super Bowl performen wird, und wir hätten ihn auch sehr gerne auf der Bühne der Grammys willkommen geheißen“, so Mason.

„Leider gibt es jedes Jahr weniger Nominierungen als Künstler*innen, die sie verdient hätten. Aber als der einzige peer-reviewte Musikpreis werden wir weiterhin herausragende Musik würdigen und Aufmerksamkeit auf die vielen herausragenden Künstler*innen lenken, die die weltweite Musikgemeinschaft ausmachen. (…) Alle Grammy-Nominierungen werden von den Wahlberechtigten für ihre Spitzenleistungen gewürdigt, und wir möchten ihnen allen gratulieren.“

Ebenfalls von einer Grammy-Nominierung ausgeschlossen ist Bob Dylan, für sein 2020er Album „Rough and rowdy Ways“. Bisher hat Dylan, im Gegensatz zu The Weeknd, allerdings noch kein Kommentar zu seiner fehlenden Nominierung abgegeben.

Justin Bieber: Unglücklich mit „Pop“-Nominierung

Weniger Grund zur Beschwerde hat eigentlich Justin Bieber, der für sein Album „Changes“ einen Platz unter den Nominierungen in der Kategorie „Best Pop Vocal Album“ bekommen hat. Auf Instagram hat Bieber kurz nach der Veröffentlichung der Nominierungen einen Post geteilt, in dem er zu der Nominierung Stellung nimmt.

„Ich bin geschmeichelt, für meine Kunst Anerkennung zu erlangen“, heißt es in dem Textpost. „Allerdings wollte ich ein R&B-Album machen. ,Changes‘ war und ist ein R&B-Album. Dass es nicht als ein R&B-Album anerkannt wird, ist für mich seltsam. Ich bin mit einer Bewunderung für R&B aufgewachsen, und ich habe mir gewünscht, ein Projekt zu machen, das diesen Sound verkörpern würde. Dass es nicht in dieser Kategorie auftaucht, fühlt sich für mich komisch an, denn von den Akorden über die Melodien und den Gesangsstil bis hin zu den HipHop-Drums, die wir gewählt haben, ist es unmissverständlich ein R&B-Album! Versteht mich nicht falsch, ich liebe Pop, das war bloß nicht das, was ich dieses Mal machen wollte.
