Nicolas Godin veröffentlicht neuen Song „The Foundation“
Mit dem Musikvideo zu seinem Song „The Foundation“ kündigt der Air-Musiker Nicolas Godin sein neues Soloalbum „Concrete and Glass“ an.
Am 24. Januar 2020 veröffentlicht Nicolas Godin sein neues Solowerk „Concrete and Glass“. Mit dem Album bezieht er sich auf bedeutende Architekten und deren ikonische Werke und entwirft ihnen zu Ehren eigene Klangwelten. Godin, der selbst ein Architekturstudium absolviert hat, sieht in seinem kommenden Sololbum auch eine Verbindung zu den Anfangstagen des Elektroduos AIR, welches er zusammen mit Jean-Benoît Dunckel gegründet hat. Es schließe sich der Kreis zu den allerersten Tracks des Elektropop-Duos.
Vorab veröffentlicht Nicolas Godin aus „Concrete and Glass“ bereits den Song „The Foundation feat. Cola Boyy“ mitsamt Musikvideo. Pierre Koenigs Case Study House #21 war der Ursprung für die Voabsingle. „Well, at least that’s how I presented the music to its future singer,Cola Boyy’,“ sagt Godin. „Like I did for each guest artist on the record, I told him about the project’s architectural origins, explaining that he must let his own personal inspiration run free for the lyrics. I always thought that a concept was always the perfect way to start a record, but then you should soon let the music take over. A good record is one in which the music seizes control pretty fast. I’ve applied this rule to each album I’ve been lucky enough to record, with only one mantra: It’s the music that decides. This song is the perfect example of this.“
Das Video setzt auf eine gänzlich differente Darstellung des Songs. Im Intro wird beschrieben, wie sich das Leben auf der Erde dem Ende zuneigt. Eine junge Astronautin macht sich auf die Suche nach einer neuen Welt. Der Clip zeigt Trainingsszenen, dann tritt sie ihre Reise an. Am Ende ändert sich die Szenerie: Die Protagonistin taucht in einer Wüstenlandschaft auf. Sie nimmt ihren Helm ab und atmet tief ein. Ungeklärt bleibt, ob sie auf einem bewohnbaren Planeten gestoßen ist oder immer noch auf der Erde festsitzt.
